Welcome!
Welcome to the web site of the Sierra Expedition of the
YMCA Adventure Guides program for the 2007-2008 season. We are
affiliated with the Southwest YMCA
in Saratoga, California. If you are interested in participating in this
program, please refer to the attachment here or contact
one of the individuals listed in the 'Contacts'
section below.
Overview
The YMCA program is for daughters (K-4th Grade, 5th Grade
optional) and their fathers. Our objective is to provide an environment
within which daughters and their fathers can spend meaningful time
together and also have fun. For additional information about the
program, please review our simple summary and this YMCA document. There is also a YMCA web site for
this program.
The expedition is organized into circles that hold monthly meetings in the homes of their members.
In addition, the expedition also sponsors monthly expedition events
(such as
campouts, dances, and skating) that all members are invited to attend.
Give to the Y
Care. Contribute. Create.
Care about the future. Help
give thousands of individuals and families the opportunity to enrich
their lives through Y programs and services! Without your support, many
people who benefit most from our programs and services might not be
able to participate. Your gift ensures the Y remains accessible to
everyone—regardless of their ability to pay.
Contribute to the Y. One hundred percent of
your contribution provides financial assistance and supports critical
programming at the Y. You can contribute in a number of ways, including
online for our annual Community
Support Campaign (encrypted page).
Create a stronger community. Through many
opportunities for giving, children can build self-esteem and discover
personal talents at the Y. Teens can connect with peers and positive
adult role models while learning leadership skills. Adults can develop
new friendships and feel more connected in the entire community.
News
The Southwest YMCA has started a Trailblazers
expedition. It
is in effect a follow-on program for 5th to 7th grade boys and girls
and
their dads. However, the new Quicksilver Expedition
does
include some 4th graders, as well as some who were never in the
Adventure
Guides program. Click here for
information
about joining.
Greetings all ye of the Mighty Sierra Expedition and
Welcome!
The
Expedition is on the move again. The theme for the year (2007-2008) is
"Love
and a Compass". The Love we share with our Princesses and Direction we
give them is what will bind us together. The strong bonds that we will
form
with them and the memories we share will last us a life time.
Be prepared for a wonderful time with your Princess. The
council is
working hard to make this possible.
Our
new dynamic Compass Bearer (Mike 'Dancing Buffalo' Liddle) is getting
Jones
Gulch
all ready for our premium event of the year. Our returning Naturalist
(John
'Fire Fox' Fox) has performed admirably at the spring rough out in
June with
his pyrotechnic show, so look forward to more along the same theme at
Jones
Gulch.
To help raise the attendance at all the superb Expedition events, we
have completed the calendar
for the year ahead of time. The website has already been updated with
most of
the
necessary information for the year.
See you
all during the year and let us make it a Great one!
Waynoon!!!!
Jim
'Mountain Walker' Pyle, Navigator, Sierra
